Melissa Frocks It Up

“On Wednesdays, we wear pink” - and go back to the hairdresser after just under 5 months. What a glorious day!

After I complained that I had last week’s pink dress in 3 colours but couldn’t find the others, there they were in my wardrobe. So here’s my blood orange dress, pink lemonade Erstwilder brooch, and Vendula Fruits and Vegetable shopfront bag. And our overloaded lemon tree. Yep, today’s theme is “citrus”.

Today’s theme is “belts” and I’m rather enjoying this combo. Would add the belt again. Good frock for a chilly day.

Sunday 24th was “a frock with a story”. I found this in the back of the wardrobe. I bought it at 14, for my first school dance, on an illicit shopping trip (not sure why, but I had a sneaky day off school) with mum and my godmother.
It did not get much extra outing but I wore it to a fancy dress party several years later. We went out for dinner first. When I took it off at the end of the night, I found that my friends had entertained themselves by “posting” knives and forks into my sleeves.

Saturday’s theme was “weekend casual” - I have to confess that this dress has seen me through the last 5 lockdowns on high rotation. So not only for weekends, but not one for going out.
This is the first day when we had to take the photo in the actual rain.

Today’s theme is “favourites” again - this dress is one that I keep coming back to. And glorious weather to boot!

Frocktober Day 21 and the themes have come out for next week - some might be a strain. But for today, the theme is “patterns” and mine is balloons! A beautiful friend/colleague gave me a Bok bok b’gerk brooch with a hot air balloon a couple of years ago, with a lovely note thanking me for lifting people up. When I saw this dress, I had to get it. So please friends, feel uplifted. You’re all fab.

Finally caught up! It’s Wednesday so of course we wear pink.

Tuesday 19th was “red”. I’m not quite sure what this is - a maxi dress? A caftan? A muumuu? Whatever, it’s super comfortable but also just long enough to be dangerous with my crutches.

Monday 18th was “ribbons and bows”.

I was really excited by the oddly specific theme for Sunday 17th. Rockets is something we can do well in our house.
It wasn’t until others started posting that I realised I’d misread the theme: POCKETS not rockets. Fortunately, my space dress has those too.

The theme for Saturday 16th was “pastel”. Nothing to say we can’t wear pink (and green) on other days!

Friday 15th was Melbourne Black - perfect theme for a dress that doubles as a hoodie. I’m fake necking a bottle of extremely rude pandemic-themed wine.

The theme for Thursday 14th was green. Nothing super special here but I wear this dress a lot between about now and April. Hello old friend!

Day 13 was Wednesday and I had a NEW pink dress. My family laughed at me & said it was a style for young children so I put my hair in plaits and pretended I was Pippi Longstocking. With biscuit shop handbag.

Day 12 was “a bit dotty” and apparently I have no dresses with dots. This one has lipsticks, which are almost the same.

The theme for Day 11 was “blue”. Blue tunic, blue caravan bag & matching brooch. “Needs ironing” was not explicitly on theme.

Day 10 was “favourites” - here’s my frock in custom “meeple” fabric.

Day 9 was “Geometric”. This dress feels pixelated, which is close.

So behind on updates here! Day 8 was “favourite” - girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes … a cat called Snowflake … lots more if you look

Day 7 - “a little bit sporty”. I’m not, but my bike bag is. And yes, this frock was bought to match.

Day 6 - “on Wednesdays, we wear pink” - YES WE DO.

Day 5 - “birds of a feather” in my 🦜 dress.

The theme for Day 4 was “check me out”

Day 3’s theme was “Rainy Day”. Why don’t I have a frock with brollies on it?

Day 2’s theme is Picnic in the Park.

Day 1 was for “fabulous frocks”. I love this one but rarely wear it.
