I'm Frocking Up to raise funds for Australia's most lethal gynaecological cancer - ovarian cancer. I have a gene fault (BRCA1) which means I have a higher risk of developing breast and/or ovarian cancer than someone without said fault. Breast cancer screening in this day and age is thorough, and well-developed. Ovarian cancer screening does not exist. It’s been recommended to me to have an oophorectomy (surgery to remove my ovaries) as the most effective way of reducing the risk of ovarian cancer with the BRCA1 fault, because no easier screening exists. The five-year survival rate for ovarian cancer in Australia is just 46%, meaning those diagnosed get less than half a chance of surviving five years from their diagnosis. I want to help change the existing statistics and give those diagnosed with ovarian cancer a greater chance of survival, as well as supporting research into a more accessible screening/prevention method for those carrying the gene fault in generations to come. Research is the answer. The OCRF is the leading non-government funder of ovarian cancer research in Australia, and the largest funder nationwide for early detection research. If an early detection test can be developed, survival rates for ovarian cancer could rise to 90% and above, saving the lives of thousands. Please help me support the vital work of the OCRF, and the dedicated researchers they fund, by making a donation to my page. Every dollar counts!

My Updates

One whole month of frocks done and dusted! Looking forward to re-wearing outfits once again, and maybe not another frock for a couple of weeks… I’m a little exhausted tbh. (Embarrassed to admit that the wardrobe collection could maybe do another month yet.)

Thanks SO much to everyone who’s donated. I’m so grateful to you all & I hope you’ve learnt something, particularly if it’s “wow ovarian cancer is really shitty” but also “wow your frock collection is stupendous” is also fine.
Love yas!

Made it to WA! Lila’s picking what dress I wear every day for the rest of the month, but more importantly she’s picking what earrings.

I’m eleven days into this thing and just kinda getting my head around it. I’m so stoked at how many gorgeous humans have donated, and I’m nervous but proud to be speaking out about my BRCA1 diagnosis, and what that means for me from a preventative point of view. I went through my wardrobe with my little niece the other day to pick my eight WA dresses (+ two travel days) and now I’m just filling in the gaps until then. I’m so excited to just RELAX and enjoy!
