Bow Wembridge is fundraising for
Wow!! Another year already and another Frocktober! This will be my second year participating in Frocktober and I’m so excited to share with you not only my favourite frocks, but also help bring a little brightness into your day during these difficult times. I’ve got a new home and city to explore, and lots of dresses begging to come out. Please join me in this years campaign to help raise awareness and much needed funds for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation, by sponsoring me or creating a fundraising page of your own! Each day in October, I will be frocking up in a fabulous dress (or skirt) and sharing my progress as well as information on Ovarian Cancer to raise awareness and funds to find an early detection test and cure. Thank you for helping me to reach my goal this Frocktober! Xx

Day 22 - “Magnolia”👗 Did you know? More than 80% of women experience a recurrence of their ovarian cancer after successful treatment and a period of remission, at which point their cancer is likely to be chemo-resistant.

Day 21 - “Aurelia” 👗 Did you know? High grade serous carcinomas are the most common type of ovarian cancer, accounting for around 70% of all cases.

Day 20 - “Winifred”👗 Did you know? A woman’s risk of ovarian cancer decreases with pregnancy and breastfeeding. Pregnancy reduces the risk of ovarian cancer by approximately 30%.
Day 19 - “Evelyn”👗 Did you know? The use of birth control pills has been found to reduce a woman’s risk of ovarian cancer by 25-28% compared to women who have never used birth control.
Day 18 - Over the rainbow 🌈 for the “Dorothy” dress. Rather than click your heels👠click to donate to the OCRF! Did you know? It is estimated that about 44% of women who inherit a BRCA1 mutation and about 17% of women who inherit a BRCA2 mutation will develop ovarian cancer by the age of 80.
Day 17 - “Brittany” 👗 Todays inspiration taken from a new tv show I’ve been (binge) watching “Emily in Paris”, I can only dream to have such a wardrobe! Did you know? BRCA germline mutations are associated with 10-15% of high grade serous ovarian cancer. Please support the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF) by donating to my Frocktober challenge in October
Day 16 - “Enamoured” 👗First time frocking out in my new Friday favourite! Did you know? The most common types of ovarian cancer are epithelial, germ cell and stromal cell. Epithelial ovarian cancer accounts for 85-90% of all ovarian cancers.
Day 15 - “Falling in love”👗 Did you know? While cells in our body usually grow in a controlled and organised fashion, when they grow abnormally, they form a growth or tumor which can be benign or malignant. Benign tumors are not cancerous and do not spread. Ovarian cancer is a malignant tumor in either one or both ovaries, which can continue to spread if not treated. Currently there is no early detection test

Day 14 - “On Wednesdays we wear pink!” Thinking of my family and friends in Victoria and counting down the days until we can see each other again. It’s only fitting that I wear the Summer Holiday dress, with its watercolour design inspired by the iconic buildings of Melbourne. Can you spot which ones? Did you know? Around 15-20% of ovarian cancer patients are found to have one of the BRCA gene mutations or other similar gene mutations.
Day 13 - Photos today whilst taking a walk with my favourite girl 🐶 Did you know? The symptoms of ovarian cancer are often vague and may not even present significantly until the cancer has advanced. Symptoms can include persistent or sudden onset of: *bloating and abdominal swelling *appetite loss or feeling full quickly *tiredness *unexplained changes in weight, and *change in frequency of urination
Day 12 - Bit of an accomplishment today in that not only did I manage to avoid spilling tea on a white dress, but I’ve also reached my fundraising goal!! ❤️Thank you!❤️to all who have made a donation, shared a post and helped spread awareness of ovarian cancer amongst the women in your lives. Now to keep up the great work and momentum, I’m going for a reach target here and increasing my fundraising goal!

Day 9 and a bit of a twist on “Tropical Shirt Fridays” to raise funds for the OCRF👗🏖🌺 Thank you to everyone who has donated to date, I can’t believe we are nearly a third of the way through and already at 80% of my goal! Thank you all for your support and making this possible! Did you know? The only way to confirm an ovarian cancer diagnosis is through invasive surgery and biopsy. Please help fund research into an early detection test by donating today xx
Day 9 - photo!
Day 8 of #frocktober2020 “When I look into the mirror, And it’s polka dots I see, I just can’t help but smile, Because they make me feel like me!” -Minnie Mouse, fashion icon Did you know? If caught in Stage 1, survival rates for ovarian cancer patients are as high as 92%. However, only 19% of cases are diagnosed early due to vagueness of symptoms and lack of an early detection screening test.

Day 7 - “On wednesdays we wear pink!” Enjoying fashion and functionality with the Fruits of the Forest dress 👗 complete with snackholes! (Pockets) Did you know? The Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF) receives no government funding and relies solely on the financial support of corporate Australia and the broader community. 😯

Day 6 - Again I’m still missing pockets! This “Clare” spot dress has been oh so good to me, with the option of a high-neck or v-neck, this has been my most versatile wardrobe staple! Both corporate and casual at the same time, but always fun to wear... I knew she would be a favourite from the moment I first saw her. Did you know? Historically, around 70% of women diagnosed with ovarian cancer will find they are already in the advanced stages of the disease.
Day 5 - Still reaching for sleeves during a cold and rainy spring day. I can’t help but smile when I see the vibrant colours of this shift dress. Although it doesn’t have pockets (a girls best friend) it does have intricate lace detailing along the hem and sleeves that has made this my go-to Happy Day dress! Did you know? The average 5-year survival rate for Ovarian Cancer is 46%
Day 4 - A bit of a drizzly day in Hobart had me reaching for the layers! This pinafore has been great for staying warm whilst channeling those vintage vibes! Did you know? Day 3 - A visit to the Cascade Brewery for lunch in the Upper East Side dress. Discussing my upcoming high tea at the end of the month, brainstorming ideas to help fundraise and reach my goal for this years campaign. Did you know? A staggering statistic that together we can change with research into developing an early detection test and effective treatments.
