Hannah Klokman is fundraising for
I'm Frocking Up to raise funds for Australia's most lethal gynaecological cancer - ovarian cancer. The five-year survival rate for ovarian cancer in Australia is just 49%, meaning those diagnosed get less than half a chance of surviving five years from their diagnosis. I want to help change the statistics and give those diagnosed with ovarian cancer a greater chance of survival. Research is the answer. Please help me support the vital work of the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF), and the dedicated researchers they fund, by making a donation to my page. Every dollar counts!

DAY 9 | FROCKTOBER '23 👗 🧠 It’s Queensland Mental Health Week and our little school combines it with other special days throughout the year. Today we wore yellow for, “R U OK? Day”. I 💛 Frocktober might just be one month, but the fight against ovarian cancer is year-round. A powerful book to read with students is, “The Inheritance”. It considers what our legacy is for the next generation. Thank you for considering future generations with your donations.
DAY 8 | FROCKTOBER '23 👗 🌈 Today’s been an overcast, sprinkly day, with moments of sunshine breaking through. ♥️ The generosity and kindness of others, donating to the OCRF during Frocktober, is like the rainbow in the rain. Some of you had never thought about ovarian cancer ‘til I started posting about it. Some of you don’t have any personal connection to ovarian cancer. Some of you know all too well the grief it causes. So many of you have donated. Thank you.

DAY 7 | FROCKTOBER '23 👗 🩷 I don’t enjoy Op Shopping, but this year I decided I should step outside my comfort zone and find some op shop frocks… this is one of them. 🔍 There are many misunderstandings about ovarian cancer. These include: * Pap smears detect ovarian cancer. * Only women with a family history of ovarian cancer are at risk. * Ovarian cancer is an older women’s cancer. * Ovarian cancer is a death sentence. * Ovarian cancer isn’t a big deal.

DAY 6 | FROCKTOBER '23 👗 🌈 Today is the Colour Run at school, so my frock is inspired by the colours I’ll be covered in soon enough! 👀 Can you see my little friend, camouflaged in the colours of my frock? Ovarian cancer symptoms are easily camouflaged because they are non-specific and easily dismissed by both women and their doctors. Am I just pre-menstrual? Is it just perimenopause? Am I just run down? Know the symptoms, know your body, and if in doubt, check it out.

DAY 5 | FROCKTOBER '23 👗 🇯🇵 In Japanese folklore, if you fold 1000 paper cranes, your wish will come true. Paper cranes became a symbol of hope when the young girl, Sadako Sasaki was immortalised by her friends. They fundraised for a statue of her and her cranes after her death from “Atom Bomb Disease”. Sadako didn’t get her wish… 👧🏼 My wish is that my daughter’s generation will have an early detection test. Please fold a metaphorical paper crane with me by donating a dollar or two.
DAY 4 | FROCKTOBER '23 👗 📚 Just some light reading about Inquiry Learning. 🤔 One of the difficulties with early detection of ovarian cancer is that its symptoms are vague. Do you know what they are? ☕️ Can you donate the cost of a day’s takeaway coffee to the OCRF? Their research is lifesaving… just like that coffee.
DAY 3 | FROCKTOBER '23 👗 👩🏻🏫 First day of Term 4 ✅ My class asked about my brooch and I told them I was doing Frocktober. Some of them told me they knew all about me and Frocktober because they Googled me and saw my fundraising page! Hi class 👋🏼! 🔍 Women all over the world need the search for an early detection test to continue, as each year over a quarter of a million women die from this cancer. You can be provide hope by donating this Frocktober. Any amount will do!

DAY 2 | FROCKTOBER '23 👗 💪🏻 Those who know me know that Pilates is a non-negotiable part of my weekly calendar. This year my fabulous team organised an exercise frock, and I’ll be wearing it each time I go to Studio Pilates this month. 👗 There is no early detection test for ovarian cancer, which is why it’s so deadly. Please donate - even just a couple of dollars - so that lifesaving research can continue.

DAY 1 | FROCKTOBER '23 👗 🗓️ We’re back here again! Today’s frock and accessories were chosen by 5 gorgeous girls who voted on what met their, “fun, casual, colourful” brief… a perfect start to what’s promising to be a colourful month! 🧐 If you don’t know much about ovarian cancer, stay tuned. Over the coming month, I’ll be trying to educate you about the symptoms, why we need an early detection test, and what you can do to help.
